On July 12, the 10th China (Hunan) International Mineral & Gem Expo (CMGE) came to a successful end, with 220,000 visitors and a total transaction volume of 1.75 billion yuan in 5 days. In addition, the exhibition has driven the development of culture, tourism, hotel and catering industries, promoted the development of mineral and gems, modern logistics, science and research industries, and effectively facilitated the high-quality growth of exhibition economy, tourism economy and open economy in Chenzhou City.
Precious tungsten from Chenzhou
Walking into Chenzhou Boutique Pavilion, tungsten crystals are the main exhibits here. A piece of tungsten from Chenzhou attracted people’s attention. It is black and white, glittering under the light of the display case. It consists of wolframite, crystal, fluorite, mica and arsenopyrite. It was the large size and high integrity of wolframite that made it “the most distinctive tungsten” at this CMGE.
Tungsten, a precious metal widely used in aerospace and other industrial fields, is one of the characteristics of Chenzhou, the “hometown of non-ferrous metals”.
Chenzhou is rich in tungsten resource, which accounts for 1/4 of the global tungsten reserves. It has had a complete industrial chain from mine exploration, smelting, deep
processing, scientific research and trade.
Among them, Hunan Shizhuyuan Nonferrous Metals Co., Ltd. has a mine with the largest tungsten reserves and the largest mineral volume in China. Its tungsten reserves reach 700,000 tons, which is the largest tungsten mine in the world. Moreover, its annual output of tungsten concentrate amounts to nearly 8,000 tons.
Online + offline exhibition activities
The CMGE offline exhibition covers about 60,000 square meters with around 1,000 international standard booths and 42 special booths, showcasing mineral crystals, colorful gemstones, mineral fossils and handicrafts respectively.
The CMGE was held both offline and online. The CMGE was also displayed in the CMGE Cloud with 30 VR panoramic booths and 500 standard booths.
In addition, seven main activities provided people with a great feast for recreation and knowledge acquirement, including the opening ceremony, the summit forum of Chinese and foreign museum curators, the science tour of the mysterious earth and science lectures.
Science popularization activities for citizens
On July 11, the “xuexi.cn” learning platform carried out a quiz for the 10th CMGE, which attracted many citizens who retweeted the quiz and answer questions. There were not only topics about the venue and theme of the CMGE, but also relevant knowledge about green mine construction, graphite resources, hsianghualite, etc.
